Intern Profile: Kristin Demet
The summer after my junior year was the last chance I had to explore a career field that really interested me. Therefore, I interned at Craction, an up-and-coming sports entertainment company that provides a friendly and competitive game of fantasy sports. I chose this internship because I was interested in what the company offered, and I believed in their product.
With my main career interest being event planning, I was excited about planning a charity golf event as part of “Craction Gives Back”. This was a great opportunity to further my interest in event planning. During this process, I learned that networking and building connections can be a difficult process, but it eventually pays off. Besides planning a charity golf event, other internship responsibilities included improving and maintaining the Facebook page and selling sponsorship packages.
While juggling these tasks, I learned how important time management is, continually pushed my boundaries, and learned from all my new experiences. I gained knowledge about what it takes to plan a successful event and how dedicated you have to be. Through my other responsibilities, I increased my knowledge of social media websites and learned and endured the struggle of sales.
I am now confident in saying that my internship at Craction has been helpful in shaping my career interests and preparing me for ‘the real world’.
