Intern Profile: Jodi-Kay Edwards

My Internship at Innovative Services has helped me to understand more about Human Resources. My internship responsibilities included conducting interviews, making hiring decisions, processing newly hired and terminated employees, updating files and records, writing workers compensation claims, and much more. I was able to grow and become more confident in my decision making abilities as well as strengthen my writing and public speaking skills. During this time I gained a strong understanding of how the Human Resource department plays an integral part of any company. Not only did I learn important skills to take me further in my career, but I gained great life lessons as well. As a hardworking, motivated individual I was able to consistently use my self-empowered inner drive to accomplish the goals and tasks that Innovative Services and I set.

I feel my internship has prepared me for my future and has helped me develop as a professional by all the in-depth training I received. The friendly atmosphere and genuine care the employees have for their clients and each other helped to create an environment where all new ideas are welcome. Whether you worked there for a year or only a few months they treat everyone like family. At Innovative Services, they pride themselves in the quality of care that they provide for their clients.

St. Norbert College provides great tools for success, such as the SNC Job Fair and myinterfase.com. I am glad I utilized these when I did. I would greatly advise everyone to get an internship, paid or unpaid. It provides a great window of opportunity into the real business world. I now feel more confident when handing in my job application and resume to other companies. Innovative Services and St. Norbert College has given me great hope for the future.
