Intern Profile: Libby Ertmer

I interned at WFRV-TV because I wanted to gain experience as a reporter.  This was a great opportunity to learn what will be expected when I graduate in May of 2009 and it has helped to prepare me in starting my career.  My internship responsibilities included answering the phones, writing, editing tape, reviewing tape, taking sound, and asking questions. One of the most rewarding responsibilities included going out with a photographer to get a story. As an intern, I’ve learned a lot of really good life skills for future employment opportunities and it has opened up doors for me to succeed in creating my future!

During my internship, I gained experience in making sure that I will not have regrets after an interview and learned more about getting over my small fears that can prevent me from experiencing all kinds of stories.  By using my communication skills, I also became better at communicating with people. My communication skills helped me to connect well with others, which prepared me well for working with people all day long! I feel my internship has prepared me for my future and has helped me develop as a professional by making me aware of the expectations that future employers may have.
