Intern Profile: Ian Halverson

I have worked for the SNC Tech Support Services for 3 years.  Coming into my senior year I decided that it would be in my best interest to look for an internship position that would strengthen my resume for future positions.  I decided to develop an internship through Career Services around my current student worker position as it has many of the qualities I was looking for in an internship already.   

My job at SNC Tech Support Services includes troubleshooting and repairing faculty and campus computer and printer hardware and software issues.  My internship responsibilities include maintaining a steady and clear communication line with my supervisor and using our online database system, Footprints.  It is also my responsibility to set realistic and timely goals for myself, as my supervisor may not always be readily available to tell me what to do.  Lastly, I am expected to interact in a professional manner with all St. Norbert staff as an employee, not as a student, using e-mail, phone, or whatever other means to obtain information and communicate efficiently.    

My internship has better prepared me for the rigors of the “real” workplace.  It has also helped me to develop excellent time-management and prioritization skills, both which are highly valued in the workplace.
