Intern Profile: Amber Johnvin
As a communication major, I realize that my experience as an intern in a large corporation gives me the knowledge and ability necessary to succeed after my college career. This is why I have obtained multiple internships throughout my last few years in college.
My most recent internship is at Unilever Ice Cream, owner of Good Humor-Breyers Ice Cream and Ben and Jerry’s, where I work as a Retail Connections Assistant. Working as a Retail Connections Assistant, my job responsibilities include ensuring excellent customer service and satisfaction, resolving customer questions, comments and concerns, as well as conducting efficient and effective training with new employees. I perform various duties, such as entering credits and delivery tickets into our web-based system called U-Connect. I also aid my mentor in assisting in store openings and closings, mainly regarding freezer placements. Training new employees is a wonderful and exhilarating experience. I train employees on the web-based system discussed previously, U-Connect; ensuring that individuals know all of the systems workings, as well as using the correct tools and techniques to fully execute procedures.
Besides gaining the experience of working in a fast-paced large corporate environment, my internship has enabled me to improve my communication skills and to learn how to readily adapt to others’ communication styles. My internship has given me the ability to learn more about myself, as well as the corporate world.
