Intern Profile: Sarah Kaminski
One of the best experiences I have had while at St. Norbert College has been my internship through the Alumni Office over the past two years. This office intrigued me. The atmosphere, employees, and activities made me want to be a part of the Alumni Office.
As a sophomore, I applied for the Junior Internship position and over the past two years, I have learned how to be a leader and a team player. As a junior, I got the chance to lead a group of approximately 12 AMAZING students who helped me make one of the most memorable weekends in my college career become a reality. Junior Knights and Days is a weekend event where juniors and their parents get to spend a weekend together celebrating academics, fun, faith, and family. Delegation was key to planning this event. Additionally, as a senior, I led a group of seven students to help organize Senior Wine Tasting. I also get to take part of two great teams: Student Alumni Ambassadors and the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations. Student Alumni Ambassadors is a group of about 20 influential and involved students on campus that give input about what happens around the campus.
Although I think that leadership and being a team player are important parts of my internship, I think the most important job I do in the office is networking with alumni. One of the greatest lessons I have learned in this office is how to network and how to do it well. I have had the chance to not only meet several alumni, but also connect them with students and others through phone calls, emails, and events.
This internship has been the highlight of my past four years at St. Norbert College, and I will be sad to leave here in May. I know though, that the elements of leadership, hard work, and drive that I have learned through my internship will carry me into the future wherever it may be!
