Intern Profile: Bill Karow

I have had three internships throughout college and I cannot stress enough how important they are in providing you with “real world” experience to help you land a job.  My first internship was at the Arlington Park Racetrack.  My junior year I knew that I really wanted to have an internship so I could gain more experience.  I sent resumes out to many different companies and landed a marketing internship at Arlington Racetrack. There I organized and helped oversee public relations functions,  working with 10 departments.
 
My next internship was with St. Norbert Career Services as their marketing intern.  In Career Services, I helped conduct a focus group to explore what types of technology would optimally bring students into the Career Services Office. I also created and posted advertising material for the various Career Services workshops.

My most recent internship was with Penske Truck Leasing as a Management Trainee Intern.  Here I provided frontline contact with customers and clients and helped manage a large fleet of vehicles while optimally matching vehicle demand.

My time at SNC went by quick, so I would advise current students to get to know as many people as possible at SNC because you never know when you will need some help.  Also, try to have as much fun as possible!  There is, without a doubt, a way for you to go out and have a great time while also getting your work done.  It is all about managing your priorities.
