Intern Profile: Jordan Lentz

It has been an honor to have gone to school at St. Norbert College. I have been in Catholic Education for sixteen years, so St. Norbert College was a natural fit for me. My Catholic faith is a vital part of my life, and interning for Old St. Joseph’s has been not only a joy, but an enlightening experience. I love sharing my faith with others, while leading them to become closer to God in their own faith lives.  Interning as a middle school youth minister is what I consider a “dream job” while receiving my undergraduate degree in Education. There really is not a better fit than where I am right now.     

As a middle school youth ministry intern, I am in charge of training catechists, preparing middle school lessons for faith festivals, as well as planning and leading service projects and retreats for parish students. Not only am I a leader in the middle school youth ministry efforts, but I am also a member of a fantastic team of other student interns that work on the youth ministry within the parish.    

I have learned so much through my internship with the parish. The most important things I have learned are patience, teamwork, and how to adapt to change. Ministry work is challenging, and often unappreciated. It is important to remember that you’re working for your Lord, as well as serving your brothers and sisters. I am also the type of person who likes to take on a lot of responsibility by myself. This internship has allowed me to form a trust with others, and understand that more can be accomplished with the help of others.  I am someone who does not like change, and it is very hard for me to adapt. However, this internship has helped me realize that change can sometimes be a good thing, and it helps us grow as individuals.  

For students who are considering completing an internship, go for it!  No doubt, they are the best experiences that you will receive outside of a career!  The supervisors are awesome, flexible, and let you run wild with your creativity!
