Intern Profile: Suzan Odabasi
I am currently interning in the Peace and Justice Center (PJC). I feel very passionate about promoting change within the SNC community and our society as a whole. Also, I’m very interested in journalism. The PJC internship has allowed me to explore these interests and passions.
My responsibilities at the PJC include attending weekly staff meetings, in which the team assesses what we have accomplished while also planning for the weeks ahead. We reflect on personal growth, which helps make the work a meaningful experience. I also plan and organize events. I have discovered that it is important to always be in contact with all of the staff members in order to be able to work efficiently. I am also a student editor of the PJC newsletter, which is published six times a year. My duties as editor include layout, editing, and assigning of articles.
I am expecting that the internship is going to strengthen my communication skills and confidence in working as a productive and reliable team member. I feel that it is important to learn when to ask for help and when to make independent decisions and hope to take that skill with me into the working world after graduation.
Students interested in internships connected to Human Rights and Peace and Justice should truly feel passionate about making a difference and set clear goals in order to maximize their success.
