Intern Profile: Adi Redzic
I have chosen areas of internships based on my numerous interests and personal backgrounds. The Enrollment Management and Communications area was one of my interests as I wanted to express my strong passion for St. Norbert College while assisting the recruitment of students and marketing efforts of the institution. I was able to directly work with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Communications.
The Peace and Justice Center (PJC) internship was a natural fit with my personal experiences of growing up in the war-torn country of Yugoslavia. This internship gave me the opportunity to develop strategies of marketing the PJC to different constituencies, while organizing events such as International Day of Peace, World AIDS Day, and International Women’s Day.
I also sought an opportunity with the College Advancement Office, an area of the College responsible for fundraising, community relations, and alumni. In this position, I was able to work closely with the Vice President for College Advancement and learn about different aspects of fundraising, community and donor relations, management, and leadership. In addition to interning with this office, I have had the opportunity to also be employed by the Office of the Vice President for College Advancement for over a year and a half.
Lastly, I decided to join the department of Leadership, Service and Involvement (LSI) as the Involvement Intern. I am responsible for providing leadership in organizing the Taste of SNC-Involvement Fair, Norbertine Leadership and Service Awards, Advisers Recognition Ceremony, as well as facilitating the communication with all student organizations through bi-annual meetings, e-mail communication, and the daily oversight of the Student Organization Resource Room (SORR).
In my opinion, internships are amazing. They provide many hands-on opportunities for learning and personal development. They are able to present a “real job” experience, while also leaving a lot of room for error and correction. Interning is something that every student should experience. Not only will it build your confidence for a particular area, it will also motivate you to eagerly seek more opportunities for personal and professional development.
