Intern Profile:
Jim Rohde
I chose to intern in the Admissions Office because I wanted to share my experience at St. Norbert with students who were considering SNC as a college choice. I was also looking for a challenging internship that would provide me with insight as to the inner-workings of a professional office.
As a telecounseling intern, I am responsible for overseeing the telecounseling program, which consists of eight student workers calling prospective students at night. I ensure that each telecounselor has all of the necessary information needed for calling, and that the telecounselors are performing their jobs effectively. I am also helping to implement the Student Outreach Program in the Admissions Office, which will be another way to effectively communicate with potential students by creating a new program. With this internship, I will gain the experience necessary to learn how to effectively manage and run an office. I will also gain valuable leadership skills that will help me with my planned career in politics. I am learning how to increase employees’ motivation to come into work, while at the same time ensuring that their level of productivity continues to rise.
Being an intern is an incredible amount of responsibility. In order to be an effective worker, you must be dedicated and willing to meet and exceed the expectations of your supervisors. This can be accomplished by being creative in the workplace, understanding what is expected of you, and using these tools to bring about a positive, effective outcome in the workplace.
