Intern Profile: Mason Wesenberg
Marks Baughan & Co is a boutique investment bank that is headquartered out of Philadelphia. The firm’s two main industry verticals are Financial Management and Information Technology. As a financial intern in their London office I was exposed to the industry and culture of investment banking. I supported the firm’s efforts by partaking in financial model building, analysis, and client marketing.
One of the key advantages of working for a boutique, when compared to a bulge-bracket bank, is the participation in many of the processes that occur during deals while being able to work alongside senior staff . I was able to participate in client meetings as well as Board meetings, which helped me to understand different business lines and units within specific firm structures.
I believe the first-hand exposure and participation during an internship is a valuable experience that all undergraduates should take advantage of. I recommend embracing challenges and opportunities that compliment your skill set, but to temper your own ambitions so that you don’t take on more than you can handle.
