Art Requirements

Art Major: Fine Art Sequence (12 courses): AR 110, 115, 120, 134, 135, 224, 230, 240, 280 and two studio courses at the 300 level and one at the 400 level. Individualized majors, such as advertising and pre-architecture, can be arranged through an advisor.

Art Major: Graphic Design Sequence (14 courses): AR 110, 115 or 120, 134, 135, 224, 230, 240, 280, 335, 350, 399, one 300-level studio course and one 400-level studio course; plus one of the following: DH 335, AR 205 or AR 320. An understanding of the computer as a graphic communication tool is required. In addition, we recommend that the graphic design student supplement the Art major with courses in advertising and marketing.

Art Minor (6 courses): Required courses: AR 134, 135. Electives: one from each of the following groups:

• AR 110, 115, 120
• AR 230, 240, 280
• AR 224, 314
• AR 324, 330, 340, 380

Graphic Design Minor (7 courses): AR 134, 135, 280, 335, 350, 399 or 485, and one of the following: AR 110, 115 or 120.

Special Requirements: A senior exhibit is required of all majors.
