Business Administration Requirements

 

General Business Major (14 courses): The general business major is divided into basic, core, and advanced requirements.

A. Core Requirements: (Normally be taken in the following sequence)

BUAD 284 Statistics for Business and Economics or MATH 321 Probability and Statistics
ECON 101 Principles of Macroeconomics

Junior Year
BUAD 350 Corporate Finance
BUAD 390 Business Law

Senior Year
BUAD 485 Seminar in Strategic Management

B. Advanced Requirements:
Advanced business requirements should be taken in the third and fourth years, and there are both minimum and maximum limits. Business Administration majors must take at least two advanced courses from the following list: any business administration (BUAD) course at the 200-level or above (other than the core requirements and courses designated for non-majors); any economics (ECON) course at the 200-level or above; and selected courses in communications (COMM 322), English (ENGL 306), mathematics (MATH 317), philosophy (PHIL 320), psychology (PSYC 221, 321, 325 and 360), and sociology (SOCI 235). No more than four advanced business administration (BUAD) courses, at the 300 level or above (other than core requirements), may be counted to satisfy the 32 total courses required for graduation. Students must select their advanced courses in consultation with their advisors.

C. Further Study in Specific Business Areas:
Students wishing further study in specific business areas should consider the suggestions listed below.

These suggestions include courses taken as Advanced Requirements beyond the general basic and core courses.

Students should select courses in consultation with their Advisors. Students cannot take more than 4 advanced Business courses at the 300 level or above (other than core requirements) within the 32 courses counted toward their degrees.

Business Administration Minor (7 courses): BUAD 101, 142, 230, 270, 350, BUAD 284 or SSCI 224, and ECON 102.

International Business and Language Area Studies (IBLAS) Major: Refer to the International Programs section of the Catalog for IBLAS curriculum requirements.

Computer Information Systems Major: Refer to the CIS section of the Catalog for curriculum requirements.

Residency Requirement: In order to earn a BBA degree from St. Norbert College, a student must earn satisfactory credit in at least six required business courses (BUAD) at St. Norbert College.

Independent Study: The number of independent studies in the 32 courses required for the BBA degree is limited to three.

Internship: BUAD 494, internship for credit, can be taken only once for credit. This limit does not affect internships not taken for credit.
