Philippines Studies (PHLP)

The academic minor in Philippine Studies offers Filipino American students the opportunity to explore their rich heritage and also makes Filipino culture known to students of other backgrounds.  The minor in Philippine Studies has significant academic value for all students, because the Philippines has a recent history that has been closely tied to that of the United States and because the Philippines provide an excellent opportunity for students to study a largely Catholic, developing, country at the crossroads of Southeast Asia.  The minor requires completion of six courses and study abroad at the University of the Philippines.
