English Requirements

English Major (10 courses plus a foreign language through 102): ENGL 150; 225 or 226; 235 or 236; 305; a major author course: 325, 334 or 339; 400; plus 4 electives from all other ENGL courses and the following courses: HUMA 222, HUMA 262, WLIT 325. Note: Students may take more than one ENGL 300 (Special Topics), ENGL 400 (Advanced Seminar), or ENGL 491 (Tutorial in Advanced Creative Writing) course with the approval of the advisor and course instructor.

English Major with a Creative Writing Concentration (10 courses plus a foreign language through 102): ENGL 150; 225 or 226; 235 or 236; 305; a major author course: 325, 334, or 339; 307 or 308; 400; 425; plus 2 electives from all other ENGL courses and the following courses: HUMA 222, HUMA 262, WLIT 325. Note: Students may take more than one ENGL 300 (Special Topics), ENGL 400 (Advanced Seminar), or ENGL 491 (Tutorial in Advanced Creative Writing) course with the approval of the advisor and course instructor.

English Major with Secondary Certification (10 courses plus a foreign language through 102): ENGL 150; 225 or 226; 235 or 236; 290; 305; 310 or 356; a major author course: 325, 334, or 339; 400; plus 2 electives from all other ENGL courses and the following courses: HUMA 222, HUMA 262, WLIT 325. Note: Students may take more than one ENGL 300 (Special Topics), ENGL 400 (Advanced Seminar), or ENGL 491 (Tutorial in Advanced Creative Writing) course with the approval of the advisor and course instructor.

Special Note: Students must fulfill their Area 5 General Education requirement by taking ENGL 150 and their Area 7 requirement by taking a foreign language through 102.

English Minor (6 courses): ENGL 150; 225 or 226; 235 or 236; 305; a major author course: 325, 334, or 339; plus 1 elective from all other ENGL courses and the following courses: HUMA 222, HUMA 262, WLIT 325.

English Teaching Minor (6 courses): ENGL 150; 290; 225 or 226 or 235 or 236; 305; 310 or 356; plus 1 elective from all other ENGL courses and the following courses: HUMA 222, HUMA 262, WLIT 325. Special Note: Students must fulfill their Area 5 General Education requirement by taking ENGL 150.
