Inquiry and Applied Research for Educational Change is an innovative two year Master of Science in Education degree that serves three goals: 1) the completion of a professional portfolio at the end of the first year; 2), the application of technology in your own classroom environment; 3), the development of an advocacy project and its dissemination. Courses meet on the St. Norbert College campus during the summer and use distance learning networks during the school year. The program's learning goals are based on the Wisconsin standards. This is a cohort program that admits 24 students every two years. It is designed for all teachers in pre-school through grade 12 and for educators in settings other than traditional classrooms.
Admission requirements include: 1) Baccalaureate or equivalent recognized degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 3.25 G.P.A. (or previous graduate work with a 3.5 G.P.A.). Official transcripts (not student copies) from all colleges or universities must be forwarded to the Director of the Master of Science in Education Program. Transcripts should be submitted directly by the college(s) or universities involved. 2) Hold a Wisconsin (or other state) Department of Public Instruction teacher certification or other documentation of teaching experience, and have completed two years of successful teaching. 3) Three letters of recommendation attesting to qualifications and potential for graduate study to be sent to the Director of the Master of Science in Education Program. 4) A brief statement written by the applicant stating goals to be accomplished while completing the degree. And, 5) Upon review of the application information the potential candidate may be invited to interview with the Director and other St. Norbert College Education faculty for acceptance into the program.
