Bonnie Lueck

Director of Children’s Center

B.S., University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
M.A., Concordia University-River Forest

I am currently the director of the children's center at St. Norbert College. The center serves faculty, staff and students as well as the De Pere and Green Bay communities. In addition to the management of the center, I am a member of the faculty, teaching curriculum and instruction for early childhood.

My education model, both in the children's center and in my college classroom, is based on National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Their beliefs about how children learn are based on developmentally appropriate practice (DAP). DAP dictates that teachers have a clear understanding of child development, know that all children are individual learners and are appreciative of each child’s culture.

I have a passion for the education of both young children and pre-service teachers. I have worked with children and families for more than 20 years. Throughout the years, I have engaged both young and adult learners in hands-on experiences, which I feel makes learning more stimulating and makes difficult concepts easier to remember.

My enthusiasm for education extends to a personal level as well and I consider myself a life-long learner. I am currently finishing my doctorate in education at Concordia University in River Forest, Ill.
