Why should international students consider St. Norbert?

How long is the undergraduate program?
The course of study typically takes four years but sometimes less, depending on your individual major/minor combination and credit you might receive for high school course work.
How does St. Norbert define international applicants?
You are considered an international applicant if you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (Green Card holder). If you are a citizen of another country (and not a U.S. permanent resident) and attend secondary school in the U.S., you are also considered an international applicant.
When may I begin my studies at St. Norbert?

What about school documentation and standardized test requirements?
You must submit an official record (transcript) of academic performance for the equivalent of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades under the U.S system. All official documents must be accompanied by a verified English translation if the original document is not in English. Include any certificates, diplomas, or examination results marking the completion of secondary education or preparation for higher education (i.e., O- or A-level or IB exam results). If you have exam results to send and are given only one official copy, you must send certified photocopies of the results to us. Your school official or guidance counselor can attest the copies.
Is financial assistance available for international students
?
Merit-based financial assistance is available for international applicants, although this type of assistance is limited. The admissions process for international students is need-aware, meaning the offer of admission is directly linked to the student's ability to meet expenses.
Can I work while a student at St. Norbert?
Immigration regulations allow international students to work on-campus up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the semester break. Off-campus employment is not permitted without previous written authorization from the pertinent immigration officials.You may apply for an on-campus job, but you will be limited to working a maximum of 20 hours per week. St. Norbert guarantees all international students 20 hours of work per week if they choose to work while enrolled.
Is there a special Orientation program for international students?
Yes. To ensure that our international students are fully integrated into the fabric of the College, a multiple session orientation program has been tailored to their needs. The orientation program includes such topics as daily life in America, living with an American roommate, negotiating food services, finding fun activities to participate in when out of class, as well as many more serious academic and curricular subjects.

What is a Liberal Arts education?
A Liberal Arts education is designed to allow students to explore a wide range of academic courses while concentrating in an area of interest or professional concern. Thus, undergraduate students are required to successfully complete a minimum of 32 (128 credit hours) credits which are distributed among the general requirements, major requirements and elective or minor courses. The general requirements have been established to ensure that every student experiences the range of skills and content implied by the liberal arts mission of the College.
Is St. Norbert College accredited?
Yes. All ESL and St. Norbert College classes are accredited by North Central Association of Schools and Colleges (one of the major accrediting associations in the United States).
What degrees are offered at St. Norbert?
St. Norbert College grants the following four-year undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelors of Business Administration, in 42 specific fields of study.
Is the SAT or ACT required for international students?
Only the ACT is only required for students whose native language is English. If English is not your native language but you have taken the ACT and done well, we recommend you submit your official ACT scores to strengthen your application to St. Norbert. For those in regions of the world where the SAT is offered more readily, SAT scores are a legitimate substitute. Both the SAT and the ACT are waived for international students who have strong secondary school academic records.
Do you have scholarships for international students?
Yes. St. Norbert College offers a range of academic scholarship grants to international students who excelled academically in their secondary schools. See

Do you have additional financial aid for international students?
No. Unfortunately, St. Norbert does not offer need-based financial aid to international students.
What support services do you have for international students?
The professional staff of St. Norbert College’s Center for International Education advises international students in both academic and non-academic matters. In addition, all students may take advantage of the academic, medical, and social services offered by the college.
How long will it take for me to have my admissions decision?
St. Norbert accepts admission applications on a rolling basis (year-round). While there is no deadline a foreign applicant, applicants should allow sufficient time to obtain admission documents and obtain a student visa at the U.S. Consulate in the home country.
From what countries do St. Norbert students originate?
Currently, we have students from over 22 countries including:Canada, Chile, India, Germany, Brazil, Montenegro, Poland, Belarus, Taiwan, Japan, China, Vietnam, Armenia, France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Fiji, Korea, Thailand, Turkey, and Ecuador.
Can I get credit for my International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma?
Students who have completed International Baccalaureate courses and have taken the appropriate higher-level examination may receive college credit for this work. Grades of four, five, six or seven on the examinations entitle students to credit for at least one course (per exam). Students must submit their official results as soon as they are available, and each academic department at St. Norbert will determine the specific amount of credit to be awarded. Standard level examination results will not receive course credit.
Do you have housing on campus? What about the holidays and the summer?
Yes, St. Norbert offers o-campus housing for all international students. Housing for the Fall Semester is guaranteed for students who deposit by May 1st.
Limited housing is available for any student who cannot travel home during holidays. Because of the limited nature of the housing, students may have to move to a central residence hall during these periods.
When will you issue the I-20 form?
An I-20 is necessary for all international students wishing to apply for an F-1 student visa. Once a student has met all admission requirements, has been accepted to St. Norbert College, has submitted original and sufficient financial documentation, and the enrollment deposit, the International Student Scholar Services office will issue the I-20 form.
