Professional profile
Betsy's research explores questions of the issues of consent, abuse and self-determination in biblical texts and how those texts are used authoritatively.
She is currently researching for a book on the ways that women have been defined as "sufferers" in the Biblical traditions and cultures, and what those definitions mean for the lives of modern women. Her goal in researching is always to see connections between ancient texts and current conceptions and self-identifications of women.
She plans on developing other courses that will explore the ways that religion and gender are inextricably linked, such as Women and Religion and Women in Early Christianity. |
