Who were the ancient gods of the Incas? How did Spanish priests view Inca religion, a belief system that included human sacrifice, the use of hallucinogens, mummification, transgendered priests, divination and confession? This presentation will explore how St. Augustine's writings on Roman religion provided a lens for understanding Andean religious practices in the 16th century.
