Rachel Gintner
English Major, Religious Studies Minor
I am involved in the wonderful Zambia Project at St.
Norbert. For the past two years I have
coordinated a talent show called “Knight in Shining Armor” to help raise money
for schools in Zambia, Africa. I am a quintessential nerd—I love to read and
write and hope to break into the editing and publishing industry someday. I
particularly love creative writing and poetry and some of my work has been
published in Graphos. I also work at
the Writing Center as a tutor where I look over so many papers I go crazy
sometimes! But, I love it. In the fall I will be studying abroad in Prague,
Czech Republic where I hope to reconnect with my bohemian roots and explore the
world!
My McNair research project is still developing, but because
I absolutely love all of the religious studies courses I have taken at St.
Norbert, I know I want to do something centered on Christian Ethics. I might
look into the death penalty from a Christian perspective, or perhaps do
something on the Saints! I will be working with Professor Burke Ravizza.
I know that in Graduate School I will be pursuing English;
however, I have yet to determine a main emphasis: perhaps an emphasis in modern
literature. I am considering making my religious studies minor a major if I
have the room and the energy, so I shall see. Either way, I know McNair will
help prepare me for graduate school by this incredible opportunity for faculty
collaborative research and the preparation the McNair program provides with the
GRE course preparation and the graduate school visits.
