McNair Scholars 2012-2013
Samantha Finnigan
Flute Performance Major
I am Samantha Finnigan, a Flute Performance Major at St.
Norbert College, originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. On campus I am involved
with three of themusical ensembles; Wind Ensemble (flute), Concert Band
(euphonium), and Flute Choir (flute) where we are preparing a programmatic
collection for the Spring Band Concert geared to transport the listener to
different places depending on the work. I am also the Concert Band Librarian
responsible for pulling and photocopying music for the band members.
During my summer research for McNair I intend to work with
Dr. Blake Henson (Assistant Music Professor) tentatively on completing a formal
analysis of a group of musical works.
I intend to attend graduate school to study Music Theory and
History. The McNair Program will help prepare me for the self-starting climate
of graduate school and will guide me to what is expected of those applying to
graduate schools.
