For the second time in Music Theatre history, director Dudley Birder (Music) is expanding the program’s summer season to include three Broadway productions.
In celebration of its 49th season, Music Theatre will stage two shows in repertoire fashion during the month of June. Nine performances each of “Forever Plaid” (June 9-27) and “Nunsense” (June 16-July 1) are scheduled.
A production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will follow with nine performances in late July.
“Forever Plaid” is a nostalgic view of the music of the Four Aces, the Four Freshmen, the Four Lads and other four-part guy groups of the 1950s.
“Nunsense” presents the comical antics of the five Little Sisters of Hoboken, accompanied by their upbeat and delightful singing.
It has been nearly 25 years since Music Theatre, which uses local volunteer talent, last featured so many shows in its summer season.
