An internship on par
Eighty-five hour weeks are tough even for a golfing
internship, but for Lindsey Novitzke ’12,
the hours are worth it. Keeping a blog about her summer internship with
the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) combines her love for golf with her
communication degree.
In a video posted halfway through her first week, Novitzke
said: “I feel like in the last four days I have become … a real person. I get
up to go to work at 6 a.m., I don’t come home ’til 9, I eat three healthy meals
a day with salad, I take vitamins,
and now I’m pleating my pants for tomorrow. That’s a lot of real-life
situations.”
For Novitzke this summer, a short working day lasts 12
hours, but she notes: “I think what is most exciting is that this is the first
step in the right direction. I really can see myself in this field someday
because it doesn’t feel like work to me – it feels like fun that I get paid for.”
Novitzke, one of 48 interns chosen from more than 400
applicants, has been working closely with AJGA’s sponsors, including Rolex,
Titleist, HP and AT&T, to enhance her classroom knowledge with practical
experience.
