New Green Knight rides into town on Sept. 25
The college has taken on a new appearance with the rise of the Donald J. Schneider Athletic Stadium, and soon the mascot representing the college will look different, too. The new Green Knight will be introduced at the football team’s Midwest Conference home opener against Lawrence University on Sept. 25.
The unveiling is one of a season’s worth of activities slated to celebrate the opening of Schneider Stadium, the new home of the college’s football, soccer and track teams:
Sept. 25: Norbertine Heritage Day
Lawrence University vs. St. Norbert College, 1 p.m.
The Rev. Jay Fostner, O.Praem., ’84 and the Norbertine fathers will unveil the new mascot and celebrate the new stadium by sharing the history, values and traditions of the Norbertines through a half-time video.
Oct. 9: De Pere Day
Illinois College vs. St. Norbert College, 1 p.m.
Citizens of De Pere are invited to attend the game for free. The West De Pere High School marching band will provide entertainment.
Oct. 23: Official Stadium Dedication and Homecoming
Grinnell College vs. St. Norbert College, 1 p.m.
The local community is invited to watch the Homecoming parade proceed down Third Street to Schneider Stadium. Complimentary coffee and baked goods will be provided at the Mulva Library commons.
The stadium will be officially blessed by the Rev. Jay Fostner, O.Praem., ’84 and St. Norbert College president Thomas Kunkel, and board of trustees chair Bill Auriemma ’77 will share remarks.
An alumni tailgate party will be held at the Arndt Bush Center, and a Student Government Association-sponsored tailgate will take place at Mel Nicks Field.
Nov. 6: Parents/Senior Day
Lake Forest College vs. St. Norbert College, 1 p.m.
All current senior Green Knight football players, trainers, managers and cheerleaders will be recognized, along with their parents. In addition, all St. Norbert College athletes who have attained Academic All-American status will be introduced.
