“Bridging our Community” celebration to take place Saturday
This weekend—just in time for Reunion/Homecoming—the newly built Claude Allouez Bridge across the Fox River will finally be a reality. A daylong celebration and dedication ceremony is scheduled, beginning at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, and lasting well into the evening. The event marks the culmination of years of planning and more than a year of construction work around campus.
Kicking off the celebration, the De Pere and West De Pere High School bands will lead the crowds to the center of the new bridge, where an official dedication ceremony will be held at noon. Five area musical groups will provide free live entertainment throughout the day.
Featured groups include:
Food and beverages supplied by De Pere restaurants and bars will be available for purchase. Event goers will also be able to buy bridge logo apparel and commemorative items. The celebration will conclude with a fireworks display following the headlining performance by Boogie and the Yo-Yo’z.
We hope you will join the whole De Pere community for this historic opportunity to welcome a new icon to our city. Come enjoy the views and walk along the new bridge. Only foot traffic will be allowed on the bridge the day of the celebration event—the bridge will open to vehicular traffic later that night.
