2011 Civis Princeps Silver Knight recipient

Joe Seroogy was honored Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 as the 2011 Civis Princeps Silver Knight. Joe has been quietly devoted to serving the De Pere community for decades. Furthermore, he is a “fair and honest man, a good employer and a strong business leader." Joe has served on the Main Street Board, and is a member of the De Pere Chamber of Commerce, New Bridge Celebration committee and is heavily involved with the De Pere Historical Society. In addition, Joe’s company chocolate-making company Seroogy’s, sponsors the annual Seroogy's Valentine Run/Walk with the proceeds directed to a local charity or school. It is the extraordinary amount of time and energy that Joe has devoted to the history and progression of the City of De Pere for which he has been honored. >> View the complete list of Silver Knights

The Civis Princeps Silver Knight Award

This award is bestowed upon outstanding individuals nominated by De Pere service clubs, civic organizations or other members of the community. The winner each year is selected by a vote of past recipients.

Each nominee MUST be a De Pere resident, for a minimum of five consecutive years, who has demonstrated leadership, imagination and dedication and made a significant public service contribution to the community of De Pere. Letters of support and a summary of the nominee's community contributions should be included with the nomination form.

Anyone, including individuals, service organizations and churches, can nominate individuals for this award. Previous nominees must be re-nominated with a new nomination form. >> View the complete list of Silver Knights

About De Pere Community Night

The second president of St. Norbert College, Rev. Dennis Burke, O.Praem., began De Pere Community Night in 1968 to celebrate the relationship between St. Norbert College and the surrounding De Pere community. The Civis Princeps Silver Knight Award is presented to a deserving member of the community who exemplifies the Norbertine tradition of self-emptying service. De Pere Community Night is held each fall on the St. Norbert College campus and consists of a cocktail reception hour (cash bar), followed by dinner and the award presentation ceremony.

Nominations

Nominations for the Silver Knight Award are accepted on an ongoing basis and are due each year by July 15. Download the nomination form (PDF).
