Green Knight cheerleaders
on loan to the Pack
|
|
| The
Packers have held their summer training camp on the St. Norbert
College campus since 1957. This is the longest-standing training camp
relationship between a pro football team and a college in the NFL. |
Last spring, the Green Bay Packers and St. Norbert co-sponsored the
national academic conference, “A Mirror of Our Culture: Sport and Society
in America.” This first-of-its-kind
partnership was held at St. Norbert and Lambeau Field. |
The St. Norbert College cheerleaders head to Lambeau Field for each home game to cheer on the Pack. They've been pumping up the Packers faithful since 1997.

Dan
Zegers '11 is just one of the St. Norbert College students who has
enhanced his professional experience through an internship with the
Packers organization. (Read about Zegers and other alums who serve in the world of athletic endeavor in "The sporting life.")
|
St.
Norbert College president Tom Kunkel serves on the Packers board of
directors and former president Thomas Manion is a trustee emeritus of the club. Packers CEO Mark Murphy and VP Betsy Mitchell have spoken at the colleges CEO Breakfast and Strategy Series. Past team leaders including Ron Wolf and chairman Bob Harlan have been guests on the "Conversations from St. Norbert College" television show. |
Fr. Jim
Baraniak, O.Praem., '89 the pastor of St. Norbert College, doubles as the
Green Bay Packers' Roman Catholic chaplain, a role that calls him to
serve at home and on the road with the team. (See TIME Magazine's "God and Football: The NFL's Chaplains Give Advice" for more on Baraniak.)

Kevin Quinn is a leading sports economist and St. Norbert faculty
member, whose work on issues like the economic impact of the Super Bowl
often utilizes the Packers as a case study. (For more on Quinn's work read "Finding $50 bills in the NFL draft.")
|
Recognizing that those who excel on the field often excel off of it, St. Norbert awarded honorary degrees to Packers great Bart Starr and his wife Cherry in 2010 for their community service. |
More than one St. Norbert graduate has gone on to work for the Packers. Current alums with the team include Kate (Kelly) Hogan '84, their director of retail operations, Lisa (Berg) Treichel '93, Jen Rosin '08 and Theresa Pagel '04. And believe it or not, one St. Norbert grad, Larry Krause '70, actually played for the Packers! (Read more about Hogan in "Scoring BIG" from the St. Norbert College Magazine.)
