An important thing you need to know about Counseling and Testing Services is that although we’re part of St. Norbert College, there are very strict privacy rules in place to prevent disclosing information without your consent. So no matter what you are dealing with, nobody outside our office would typically know you were receiving services unless you told them.
We follow the same privacy laws as most healthcare organizations in that we must report child abuse or elder abuse and any imminent risk of harm to self or others. If you have any questions about this matter, please contact us for more information but rest assured that we take your privacy very seriously and rarely disclose information.
Here are a few more things that you may want to know:
- We provide counseling services free of charge, thanks to the student health fee.
- The average number of sessions for SNC students receiving counseling is six.
- We primarily use active, problem-solving approaches to help you figure out ways to better manage situations.
- We see students in all years (first through senior year).
- We see students with anxiety, depression, anger, alcohol, drug, relationship and many other issues. Don't be embarrassed about coming in; just about everyone could use an emotional tune-up.
- Female and male staff are available.
- Testing services for attention problems and learning disabilities are available on a limited basis.
- Our staff has 40+ years of experience helping people find ways to cope with situations in their lives.
- We have a comfy couch in the waiting area and pretty cool offices if we do say so ourselves :)
If you'd like to schedule an appointment with one of our staff members, please call us at (920) 403-3045 or counseling@snc.edu.
