Requirements for Approval to Student-Teach

• Be in good standing in the teacher-education program:
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater in major, minor and professional education course work.
  • GPA of 2.75 or greater overall.
  • Proficient rating or better on all building blocks within the certification portfolio.
  • Completed at least 18 part A and 18 part B human relations hours.
  • Have evidence of possessing dispositions to teach.
  • Have cleared all criminal background checks.
• Passed the Praxis I and Praxis II exams
  
  
• Complete and submit the student-teaching application:
  • Complete all sections of the application.
  • Print the completed application.
  • Submit to the education office in person during normal business hours.
  • Submit by Dec. 1 of the academic year (junior/third year) prior to the academic year (senior/fourth year) in which you will be student-teaching.
  • Submit appropriate fees with application.
  • Get your receipt that indicates you have submitted a complete application and associated fees.
