Requirements for Approval to Student-Teach
- Be in good standing in the teacher-education program:
- GPA of 3.0 or greater in major, minor and professional education course work.
- GPA of 2.75 or greater overall.
- Proficient rating or better on all building blocks within the certification portfolio.
- Completed at least 18 part A and 18 part B human relations hours.
- Have evidence of possessing dispositions to teach.
- Have cleared all criminal background checks.
- Passed the Praxis I and Praxis II exams
- Complete and submit the student-teaching application:
- Complete all sections of the application.
- Print the completed application.
- Submit to the education office in person during normal business hours.
- Submit by Dec. 1 of the academic year (junior/third year) prior to the academic year (senior/fourth year) in which you will be student-teaching.
- Submit appropriate fees with application.
- Get your receipt that indicates you have submitted a complete application and associated fees.
