St. Norbert College teacher education is proud to be able to offer the following awards:
Catherine Schmitz Jacobs Elementary and Secondary Education Scholarships
These scholarships honor an outstanding St. Norbert College sophomore seeking Early Childhood/Middle Childhood, Middle Childhood/Early Adolescence or Early Adolescence/Adolescence teaching certification. Candidates will be selected on the basis of performance (including grades) in education courses and practicum, the quality of overall preparation to teach, and the candidate's commitment to exemplary teaching and public service.
The teacher education faculty evaluates pre-service teachers at the end of each pre-professional semester. Three candidates will be selected from each semester's students. These three candidates will be interviewed by Catherine and Bud Jacobs who will recommend a recipient to the Teacher Education Faculty. The scholarships will be presented at the next block orientation meeting (in November or April).

Reverend E.J. La Mal Award
Through this award, the teacher education discipline recognizes the outstanding scholarship of a senior education major at St. Norbert College. The award to an outstanding young educator is named after Reverend E.J. La Mal, O.Praem., who coordinated and guided the St. Norbert College teacher preparation program to a position of stature and strength among Catholic and public colleges and universities in the Midwest. For more than thirty years, Father La Mal distinguished himself in the field of education through service to many professional education associations. It is fitting that an outstanding young educator at St. Norbert College be honored with an award designated after a person of such personal integrity and professional distinction.
Faculty in the education discipline select the recipient on the basis of overall grade point average, grade point average in education, Christian spirit and professional demeanor, participation in professional organizations, and extra-curricular involvement.
