The Electric Company is a social group that has been around for a number of years. Officially recognized in 1995, the Electric Company welcomes all women on the St. Norbert College Campus who might be interested in the Electric Company to come and stop by a meeting. Below are a list of questions and answers that you may have about the Electric Company.
1. What is the difference between a social group and a sorority?
A social group accepts all members. In the case of the Electric Company, this means that if you decide you want to join there is no pledging or other process that you have to go through. Instead, why and when you join EC is completely up to you. We always love new members and look forward to welcoming you into the group!
2. What's with the nicknames?
Each member of the Electric Company receives a nickname or "EC name" upon joining the group. These names are designed to be a reflection of the wonderful individual qualities or talents of that particular EC member. Names are never aimed to be deregatory but rather to celebrate that particular member and her accomplishments, personality, and spirit.
3. Is there hazing and what is this initiation thing?
The Electric Company prides itself on being a no-hazing group in accordance with the guidelines set down by St. Norbert College. You may hear members talking about "initiation week." This week is a series of fun activities designed to get to know you and allow you to get to know the other group members. Frequent activities in our "initiation week" include a group dinner, shopping trips, Cosmic Bowling or other recreational activities, and more. The Electric Company specifically designates two members to handle all of the events for that week. The 2009-2010 initiation chairs are Chrissy Madonna and Megan Schrieter. Both ladies have experience in planning initiation events and making sure that active and potential members have a fun week while addressing any questions that new members might have about intiation week and the activities.
4. What are the EC colors?
The EC colors are green and black, just looking for girls on campus wearing awesome jerseys that read "The Electric Company."
5. What if I have any more questions?
