Internship for credit ENGL 494 Internship in Humanities and Fine Arts This internship experience allows students to apply their studies in a supervised work situation. Students benefit from an inside look at different kinds of organizations, by having a chance to work in their field of study, and by gaining experience with state-of-the-art equipment and practices. Junior or senior standing and consent are requirements. The course is conducted online as most students who take this course intern outside the Green Bay area. Students interested in pursuing this opportunity must have the internship approved, preferably by someone in your discipline and the instructor. Given the varied majors of students in the course, the course content addresses a wide variety of topics and issues as they relate to the internship experience. For instance, students are asked to write a paper about ethics in their internship work environment. Most students are surprised to learn about the ethical dilemmas that often face employees and the ethical guidelines (or lack thereof) that an organization might have in place to guide their decision making and their work. They also do papers on diversity and communication in the workplace, and organizational culture and climate. - |
