Meeting Minutes
Environmental Club Meeting September 16th, 2008
Good News: Jeremy, the Burke Res Hall Director, is our new Env. Club advisor! Goals for the Year: 1. Expand composting program 2. Apply for NWF Grant--The first deadline is in October! 3. Farmer’s Market Field Trips--must have liability waivers 4. Put posters in dorm/building entrances to show monthly energy usage 5. Check into Eco-Dorm as a BIG PROJECT 6. Environmental Awareness 7. Waste Reduction Set dates for: 1. Trail clean-up: October 11th @ 10:30am (No conflicts with homecoming) 2. Geocaching: We can work it into Make-A-Difference Day at the end of October, just bring bags to pick up trash. 3. Eco-Party in Campus Center: Part of Heritage Days? 4. Local Food Dinner: During Poverty Awareness Week? (Katie & Monica will check into this) 5. Defensive Driving Classes for Compost Crew: October 11th @ 9am Register & GO! WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT? 1. Compost Crew Expansion...We need new larger, airtight containers. We also want to expand composting to the Townhouses and Campus Apartments. --Sean, Katie & a few new members. If anyone is interested in helping out, talk to Katie/Sean. 2. Grant Writing Committee 3. Battery, Bag, Bulb & Ink Cartridge Collection...advertisement & checking boxes regularly --Vanessa & Andy 4. Common Reading Committee (find books/magazines for people to read) --Sarah 5. Dorm Energy Usage Boards --Sarah, Katie & Sean 6. Environmental Service Project...set up service work at local nature preserve -- Lara & Anyone else?? 7. RHA Green Team with Jeremy --Sarah as a student link between Env. Club and RHA Green Team THE IDEAS LIST: --Promote awareness using a flyer attached to a free gift, such as a harmonica. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, September 23. 4pm, JMS 315. BE THERE!! |
