Environmental Club Meeting Minutes 9/23/08

1. Dates to Remember!
-TRAIL CLEAN-UP: OCTOBER 11TH @ 10:30am
-Defensive Driving Course: October 11 @ 9am
       E-mail Pat Dart if you’re interested in taking the class.
-Service Project as part of Make a Difference Day (October 25th)

2. Committee Updates

Andy: Grant that will go towards programs to educate people about energy
usage, global warming, etc. (Due November 30th)

Katie: Composting Expansion Updates

3. NEW IDEAS

-Kim says: Alliant Energy is proposing to build a coal-burning energy plant in
Wisconsin.  Go to the Peace & Justice Center and sign the petition against
building it.  A decision will be made in late November/early December, so keep
your ears open!

-Environmental Service Project…link up with PJC?

-Advertise: People can bring their own coffee mugs to Phil’s to hold coffee!!
       Monica will look into this--Adam Horn is Phil’s Intern.
-Can we restart the program at Phil's where students get a discount on
purchases for using an SNC mug?

-Nalgene bottles as a fundraiser (Props to Laura for this idea!)
-Also, selling coffee mugs?

-Old T-shirt drive...then T-shirts into bags as a fundraiser
(Emerging Leaders...Recycled Craft Sale)
