The Hertz Foundation selects roughly 180 excellent candidates of exceptional creativity from over 700 written applications received each year. Almost all candidates are either seniors or first year graduate students planning to do graduate study in the applications of the physical, biological and engineering sciences.

Eligibility:

• College seniors or graduate students pursuing Ph.D. degrees in the applied physical sciences.
• Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
• Must commit to making their skills available to the U.S. in time of national emergency.
