Residential Education and Housing cultivates values-oriented communities that are grounded in the faith-based mission of St. Norbert College, connects students with campus resources in order to offer continued support and promote student success, offers opportunities for student learning outside of the classroom in support of the college's academic mission, establishes and upholds community living standards, recognizes and respects cultural and human differences, and prepares students for civic engagement and responsibility by providing student leadership opportunities and promoting involvement in residential communities. Opportunities within the residential communities contribute to healthy student development, encourage student citizenship and civility, create connections to the SNC community, and promote individual responsibility for actions and interpersonal accountability for the common good.
Overview of the Resident Assistant Job
Resident assistants are full-time enrolled students who assist the Office of Residential Education and Housing in fostering growth of residents, and promoting academic success and effective community building within the residence hall. Through the creation of community development initiatives, facilitation of events, and development of relationships during intentional one-on-one conversations, resident assistants provide opportunities for students to become leaders within their community.
To be eligible for the resident assistant position:
• GPA: Candidates must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 2.5. Thereafter, RAs must maintain at least a 2.5 overall GPA to continue employment.
• All candidates must have sophomore standing at the time of employment.
• All candidates must have resided for at least one semester in a residence hall prior to beginning employment.
• Applicants must be free of any current College judicial sanction. Additionally, RAs must remain in excellent disciplinary standing throughout the period of employment.
• Housing in a single room
• Modified Gold meal plan
• Educational stipend
