Bradford Ellis

Professional profile

Bradford Ellis, Assistant Professor of Spanish, has been at St. Norbert College since 2002. He teaches all levels of the Spanish curriculum and specializes in Spanish golden age literature.

His research interests include the narrative prose of Miguel de Cervantes and María de Zayas, with particular attention to identity transgression and female empowerment and subversion in counter-reformation Spain. Recently he has presented papers at Cambridge University, Brigham Young University and Georgetown University, and is a member of the Executive Board of GEMELA (Grupo de Estudios sobre la Mujer de España y Las Américas).

Current scholarly projects include an article on Christian/Muslim Hybridity in Zayas’s Desengaños amorosos (forthcoming) and a book project entitled Assimilation, Resistance, and Subversion: Literary Representations of the Moriscos in Early Modern Spain.
