The biggest thing you need to know is that even though we’re part of the college, there are very strict privacy rules in place to prevent disclosing information without your consent. So no matter what you are dealing with, chances are that nobody outside our office would know you were receiving services unless you told them. We follow the same privacy laws as most healthcare organizations in that we must report child abuse or elder abuse and if there is an imminent risk of harm to self or others. If you have any questions about this please contact us for more information.
A few things that you may want to know are:
We provide counseling services free of charge, thanks to the student health fee.
The average number of sessions for SNC students receiving counseling is 6.
We primarily use active, problem-solving approaches to help you figure out ways to better manage situations in your life.
We see students in all years (first through senior year).
Female and male staff is available.
Testing services for attention problems and learning disabilities are available for up to a $150 fee.
Our staff has 40+ years of experience helping people find ways to cope with situations in their lives, so chances are we can help with whatever is going on in your life.
We have a comfy couch in the waiting area and pretty cool offices if we do say so ourselves : )
