Aloha! Step It Up 4: Hawaiian Knights is just the ticket to beat the winter blahs! We want to thank you for your interest and participation in the Step It Up 4: Hawaiian Knights program. It should be a fun and challenging journey through the beaches, mountains, and rain forests of the Hawaiian Islands. We will be taking this "virtual" walk through the islands of Maui, Lanai, Oahu, Hawaii, Molokai, and Kauai. Our 7 week journey will begin in Honolulu on the island of Oahu on February 18th and end on April 7th.

Teams and registration
Each team consists of 5 members with one person being designated as a captain. Each member will have to register online individually or by using the paper registration forms available at Health Services. Teammates can be an old or new SNC friend, roommate, faculty or staff member.  Please register your team by February 15th. Late paper registration will be available at the "Healthy Knights" program on Feb. 19th at the Campus Center, 4:00-6:30 p.m. Contact Health Services at extension 3266 if you need help in creating or joining a team.

Reporting steps
You will be responsible for turning in your step totals by Wednesday of each week to be eligible for weekly prize drawings. The total distance is approximately 1,120 miles or 2,240,000 steps. It averages 448,000 steps per team member or averages 9,143 steps a day. Estimate 2,000 steps = 1 mile. We will offer an opportunity to go on a Geocaching adventure using global positioning units as a team activity. You can find and/or create your own team caches. 

More information
The registration fee for this program is $3.00. This fee includes a pedometer, t-shirt, and Aloha Passport Book. The pedometer and "passport" can be picked up at Health Services beginning February 1st. Your team captain will be responsible for putting in the order for the t-shirts (including the size and color) by February 21st. We recommend that your team members have the same color shirt. Sample shirt sizes and color choices will be available at Health Services. Health Services is located in Main Hall, lower level, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Step totals

We will have a Big Luau in April to celebrate our journey. Prizes will be awarded to teams for: the first 2 teams with the most steps, the most creative team name, best team spirit and some categories yet to be created. There will be a limit of one award per team to allow us to recognize more teams or individuals. So plan to join us for lunch, win a door prize and celebrate with other Hawaiian Knights!
