Study Abroad

As an option, an honors student studying abroad may obtain credit for one honors course (not the honors senior colloquium) and one special reading assignment by completing a special project. The project must satisfy the following criteria:

  • It must be a focused study of a specific aspect or issue of the culture or country in which the student is studying.
  • It must include a research paper of at least 2,500 words.
  • It must include sources or data not readily available in the United States, e.g. personal interviews, on-the-scene observations, study of documents not usually available through the College library, etc.
  • It must include an oral presentation by the student to an audience of honors instructors, honors advisers and honors students.

If you wish to do a project of this kind, you must:

  1. Find a faculty member at St. Norbert College willing to serve as project supervisor. The project supervisor is the person who reads and approves your paper.
  2. You will also need to fill out a form which addresses the requirements listed above.
  3. This form should be signed by the faculty supervisor and the academic adviser, and should be returned to the director of the Honors Program.
