Living/Learning Residential Opportunities Communio Requirement of residents of Bergstrom Hall Communio, a living/learning course that will provide first-year students living in Bergstrom Hall a common experience that emphasizes the college’s three core traditions—liberal arts, Catholic and Norbertine—and appeals to students of all faiths. This course is an opportunity for discovery, leading residents to learn more about themselves and their place in the world while helping ease them into college life. Three Ships program Requirement of residents of Michels Hall Three ships is a program based on community service for sophomores, juniors and seniors living in Michels Hall. The program encourages residents who live together to focus on scholarship, citizenship and leadership. Students identify an issue that is important to them and work together to address the issue over the course of an academic year. Three ships is designed to help students understand the value of a life-long commitment to service. Substance-free floor Available to residents of Mary Minahan McCormick Hall Sophomore, junior and senior residents can make a commitment to live substance-free in an environment without alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in MMM. The hope is to create a comfortable, safe and close-knit community free from the pressures associated with substances. Host program Available to residents of VMC, the Carriage House, Riverside and Vander Zanden apartments and MMM The host program is an opportunity for traditional St. Norbert students to act as a host for a new international or English as a second language (ESL) student. At St. Norbert we have committed to working with all international and ESL students to make them feel welcome on campus and create opportunities for both traditional students and international students to learn about cultural differences. This program is offered to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Study abroad program housing Participate in SHOP for a limited number of bedrooms in Vander Zanden apartments that have been set aside for study abroad students. These bedrooms are reserved by using the study abroad student’s SHOP number. The bedrooms will be filled in pairs of two with students that will both be on campus for the same semester. Please remember that the limited number of Vander Zanden apartments are reserved for one semester. Students in the study abroad program housing must move out at the end of the semester.
