Summer Housing 2008 Application for summer housing Summer 2008 housing spaces are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Summer housing is available from Saturday, May 10 until Friday, Aug. 8. Students interested in summer housing, should complete the 2008 Summer Housing application (PDF) and the 2008 Early Arrival application (PDF) and submit them to the Office of Residential Life no later than Thursday, May 8. Summer housing options Summer housing options are available in Burke and Sensenbrenner Halls. The three options available are: A. single room (one person to a room) $10 per person/day (limited space) B. double room (two people to a room) $7 per person/day C. triple (three people to a room) $10 per person/day (limited space) The costs for early arrival housing are different, please refer to Early Arrival application (PDF). Remaining in a townhouse or college-owned house Students who are currently living in a college-owned house or townhouse and are planning to take May term classes, may apply to stay in their current assignment past May 13. The latest students may stay in those assignments is Sun., June 1, unless they are completing a student teaching assignment. The resident's student teaching schedule will determine the length of their housing extension. The cost to remain in a college-owned house or townhouse is $13.50 per person/day plus utilities. The house located at 320 Marsh St. is not available for the May term extension. Moving in to your college-owned house early If you are assigned to a specific house for the 2008-09 academic year, you may be able to move into your house beginning August 1. The residents living in the house will be responsible for dividing the utilities. Residents of the college-owned houses will need to follow living and parking guidelines. 320 Marsh St. is not available due to summer conferences. Others may be unavailable due to upgrades or repairs. Check with the Office of Residential Life after May 1 to confirm the houses with upgrades. Summer housing check-in Students will check in with a Burke Hall summer staff member. Summer residents moving into Burke Hall, Sensenbrenner, a townhouse or college-owned house for the summer directly from their academic year assignment, will be contacted by Residential Life when their room is available. Students must move out of their academic year assignment within 24 hours of being notified that their summer room is available. Billing The housing rates have been established on a daily basis. Students will be charged according to the dates requested on the Summer Housing application (PDF). A written notice must be provided to the Office of Residential Life one week in advance for a cancellation of the contract. Summer housing check-out All students need to check out according to the date indicated on the summer housing form, or by Aug. 8. A check-out time needs to be scheduled with the summer housing assistant or the Office of Residential Life. A staff member will check the room condition, collect keys and verify that the room is clean. If a student fails to check out on the date and time indicated on the application, a $50 improper checkout fine will be assessed. Early arrival for fall housing The official last day of summer housing is Friday, Aug. 8. Students can request housing past this date if they have been assigned to college-owned housing for the 2008-09 academic year. On Aug. 8, students requesting housing will be considered early arrivals. Early arrival fees are charged separately from summer housing. Students who have lived in Burke or Sensenbrenner during the summer months will be asked to move into their fall academic assignment between Aug. 1 and Aug. 19. There is a possibility that Residential Education and Housing will ask you to move as soon as possible. As a courtesy, Residential Education and Housing will try to provide you with a 24 hour moving notice when possible. But it is your responsibility to keep in touch with Residential Education and Housing for a moving date. The actual date and time for moving depends on when your academic year housing assignment is available. The following areas will not be available for academic year residents until the end of August due to outside scheduling conflicts: Madelaine/Lorraine, Townhouses 9-12, Vander Zanden 101 and VMC. Students can remain in their summer housing assignment until their academic year housing assignment is available. Housing cannot be provided for students not living in college-owned facilities for the 2008-09 academic year past Friday, Aug. 8. |
