QUICK LINKS:

Getting Started

Each department is responsible for maintaining its own website. Usually one designated web manager does this, but as many people as necessary can be given access to a website. It is required that everyone who works on college web pages attend the Introduction to Cascade Server workshop and be familiar with the college’s web style guide.

Important: Each person who works on college web pages must have his or her own access and use his or her own computer account. Sharing computer login IDs and passwords with others is strictly prohibited by the Computing and Networking Appropriate Use Policy.

Cascade Server access

To request access to a website folder in Cascade, the appropriate staff or faculty member must complete the Cascade Access Request Form, which can be found on mySNC under "Website," and also on the Tech Support Forms page.

Staff & Faculty

College staff and faculty should work with their department web manager to request access to an existing website.

Students

Students may not apply for their own web access. If a student is to work on departmental web pages as a an employee of that department, then the student's supervisor must apply for web access on behalf of the student. Student’s web content changes will need to be approved by the faculty/staff web manager of a particular area through a workflow process.

Removing Access

If someone no longer needs access to a Cascade folder, e.g., if the person stops working for a particular department, then the person responsible for that web site should request that their access be removed via the Cascade Access Request Form. If a person's Cascade access is removed completely (if they no longer have access to any Cascade folders), then they will also be removed from the the cmsusers email list.

Starting a new department website

To start a new campus department or organization website, contact the office of communications. They will work with you to design and set up your site in the web content management system. Call the office of communications at x4011 to schedule an appointment.
