Construction history
Many of the men who worked on the Men’s Room did so knowing they would never see its completion before their graduation day. Truly these men gave of themselves for the benefit of future men and women at St. Norbert. To them, Journey-Men says thank you for being men of vision, sacrifice and dedication!
- The men removed plaster from walls as well as ceiling and floor tiles.
- They recycled wood from discarded campus bunks to build an elevated lounge area and frame the coffee bar.
- With some professional consultation, the men laid new donated floor tiles, built the coffee bar and counter tops from recycled oak boards, and painted the ceiling and one wall.
- Also, twelve foot walls were built professionally, and then the men dry-walled and covered those walls to make the adjoining kitchen that supports the Men’s Room and Knight Owl.
- Professionals were used to complete the plumbing, electrical work, carpet laying and cabinet door construction.
