Italian Language Placement Guide

Not sure which Italian class you should take, Italian 1 or Italian 2?

If you have not taken an Italian course before and are not familiar with the basics of the language, you should enroll in Italian 1. If you have taken and Italian course before and you think you're ready for Italian 2, it is suggested that you have a proficiency of at least 75% in the material below to be successful in this next level course.

  •  Reading difficult sound such as : c, g, gn, gl, sc, double consonants, h, a, e, i, o, u.
  • Greetings formal and informal.
  • Understanding masculine and feminine nouns and how to recognize them.
  • knowing how to translate A and AN.
  • Knowing how to translate THE.
  • Numbers from 1 to 10.000.
  • Ordinal numbers.
  • The days of the week.
  • The months of the year.
  • Weather conditions.
  • Colors
  • The verb to HAVE conjugation of the present tense.
  • The verb to BE conjugation of the present tense.
  • Knowing how to conjugate regular verbs present tense of the 1, 2, 3 conjugation.
  • Nouns pertinent to the AIRPORT, THE FAMILY, PARTS OF THE HOUSE, FURNITURES, ARRIVING TO A HOTEL AND REQUESTING A ROOM, GETTING AROUND TOWN.
