The Sandbox: A Makerspace

You bring your spark, and we’ll provide the tools and technology to help you create!

What is It?
The Sandbox is a makerspace that gives the campus community a physical place to grow and learn by creating. It offers tools and materials for exploration with fiber and paper arts. Sewing machine, fabric, thread, origami paper and more await you. The makerspace taps into trends and demands for individuals to experiment in making on the path to successful entrepreneurship.

Innovative and cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printing, gesture-based computing and wearable devices can be explored in the Sandbox. As emerging tech trends find their way into education, you can expect an extended range of offerings in this showspace. On the other end of the spectrum, you will also find low-tech tools  This is your space to “play” and find out what works – and what doesn’t – to shape your teaching, learning and design.

Where is It?
Prominently located on the main floor in the Mulva Library, directly across from the information desk in room 108, the Sandbox is one of the first sights you’ll encounter when you enter the library. Our makerspace is open all library hours so grab a friend, a cup of coffee from Ed’s and start making!

Our scheduled events allow you to meet a maker-in-residence!
