How do I access electronic resources from home?

Library e-resources are available to current students, faculty and staff via cable modems, dial-up and DSL. In order to access library e-resources from off-campus, you must:

  • Have a current St. Norbert College network username and password.
  • Have an active account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • Have a current full version of browser software (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera, etc.). *
  • Set up a proxy server on your computer.

If you need assistance using the databases or are having problems, contact a reference librarian at Ask a Librarian or call (920) 403-3160.

* Database vendors take advantage of capabilities found in new browser versions. Older browser versions may limit your ability to utilize searching features offered by some vendors. Since there are browser compatibility issues with some database vendors, it is also advisable to have more than one browser installed on your computer. If one browser is presenting problems, switch to the other installed browser. This will help determine if the problem is vendor related or browser related.
