Handbook of Latin American Studies
This multidisciplinary source alternates annually between the social sciences and the humanities. Each year, more than 130 academics from around the world choose over 5,000 works for inclusion in the handbook. Users can search by subject, author or title in basic search mode, and there is also a more powerful expert searching mode available. Retrieval includes complete bibliographic information, and subject listings are linked to other citations related to that subject. This is an exhaustive, authoritative source of Latin American Studies information, covering 1935 to the present.

This very extensive essay-style meta-site has lots of information and links to sources about Latin America.

LANIC: Latin American Network Information Center
This is a wonderful meta-site (list of links to other sites) relating to all aspects of Latin America and Latin American countries. The sites are arranged by country or by topic, and can be searched as well.

SULAIR: Latin America and Iberian Resources
This Stanford University Library site includes interesting and informative web resources and bibliographies.

Latin Americanist Research Resources Project (ARL)
The purpose of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Latin Americanist Research Resources Pilot Project is to create a prototype for fully connected collections for Latin American studies. Institutional participants in the Project include the Association of Research Libraries, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and thirty-one ARL Libraries. The Pilot Project is focusing on two countries: Argentina and Mexico. Includes selected periodicals and tables of contents.

Political Database of the Americas
This site, sponsored in part by the Organization of American States, offers a variety of information on Latin American politics.

The CIA World Factbook provides information about countries worldwide, including international disputes, literacy rates, land area and much more. This version also includes maps.

Constitutions, treaties and official declarations
A wide array of documents, arranged by country and by topic.

Country Studies / Area Handbooks
Information on countries worldwide, from the Library of Congress's well-known print publications.

WashLaw: Foreign and International Law Web
Provides links to primary foreign and international legal resources, research aids and sites useful in conducting research in these areas of the law. Arranged by country, topic and searchable.

Foreign Government Resources on the Web
A well-organized and searchable meta-site leading to information about foreign countries, including government web sites, country background, laws, treaties, etc., embassies, news, statistics and international agencies.

GEOHIVE Global Statistics
Includes a large collection of data, ranging from country profiles (provinces and main cities) to the highest mountains in the world, to a list of all countries in the world with their capitals, surface area and population. Includes 2 main sections: Global Data and Country Profiles.

International Data Base
The International Data Base (IDB) contains statistical tables of demographic and socio-economic data for all countries of the world.

A global collection of legal information hosted by Cornell University.

Social Watch
This web site contains poverty and gender equity links and information from around the world.

UNESCO
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization provides information on its organization, activities, current events, programs, publications, statistics, legal procedures, databases and other information. Includes portions of the World Information Report, among others.

United Nations
UN information on events, publications, documents, databases and members, regarding human rights, peace and security, economic and social development, and international law. See also the United Nations CyberSchoolBus for information on global trends, countries, cities, etc., especially "InfoNation."

World Bank
A collection of papers, reports, addresses, country information, etc. from an organization which attempts to presents the solutions to persistent global problems, highlighting human development, environmentally sustainable development and private sector development.

This site provides links to a variety of women studies-oriented issues.

Gender Inn
A searchable database of abstracts of over 5,000 books, articles and book chapters related to feminist theory, feminist literary criticism and gender studies. Many of the items focus on English and American literature. Some of the abstracts and subject descriptors are in German.

Zapatista Women - Mujeres Zapatistas
